El mercadillo de Chelsea puede ofrecer a los entusiastas de los mercadillos y a los amantes de las antigüedades algo más que otro domingo de compras. Aquí, a la sombra de la Catedral de San Sava, los comerciantes y compradores veteranos venden, compran y socializan junto a una nueva cosecha de vendedores y una nueva generación de compradores de aquí y del extranjero.
Este mercadillo al aire libre cuenta con entre 100 y 150 vendedores (según el tiempo y el calendario) que ofrecen una amplia gama de antigüedades, objetos de colección, efímeros, artes decorativas, ropa de época, joyas y otros tipos de antigüedades (artículos de más de 100 años), artículos de época (incluidos artículos Art Déco y modernos de mediados de siglo) y otros artículos deseables del pasado.
Si usted es un profano en la materia y quiere matar el tiempo en el mercado, lo más probable es que al final del día se vaya a casa con algo. Por un lado, la mayoría de los objetos decorativos que se venden en el Rastro de Chelsea no son copias no originales producidas en serie que se ven en las tiendas de souvenirs. Además, las piezas vintage suelen venir con historia y eso les da un toque humano.
Si, por el contrario, es usted un experto cazador de gangas en busca de verdaderas gangas, no le decepcionará. Se ofrece una mezcolanza de cosas: accesorios, antigüedades, ropa vintage, cámaras antiguas, abalorios y joyas, decoración, muebles, cuadros, etc.
La mayoría de los vendedores del Rastro de Chelsea son tipos muy amables, algunos de los cuales vienen en coche desde otra ciudad antes de que amanezca. Son incondicionales que han desarrollado una fiel clientela en el barrio a lo largo de los años, con seguidores aún ávidos de los años de gloria de Chelsea.
En enero de 2019 Hell's Kitchen Flea Market se fusionó con Chelsea Flea Market. Llevar a los vendedores de Hell's Kitchen a Chelsea creó una verdadera masa crítica de mercancías que mejora la experiencia de compra para los compradores y la experiencia de venta para los vendedores.
Con todo, el Chelsea Flea Market evoca de algún modo el Annex Antiques Fair & Flea Market original, su antecesor, que comenzó cerca, en la Sexta Avenida, hace casi 40 años.

28th mayo 2015 en 15:12This is a casual flea market that’s fun for browsing, but don’t expect to find anything really good. Most of the stores are very poorly organized and you have to sift through piles and piles of junk. Much of the merchandise looks just plain old, without any antique charm.
I’ve been to other flea markets that have better items, and most of the «junk» has already been taken out. This flea market, on the other hand, feels like a big collection of garage sales/people trying to get rid of things they’ve accumulated at inflated prices. You have to do the searching yourself, and if you do happen to find something you like, it’s being sold for more than it’s probably worth.

29th junio 2015 en 00:04$1 admission to enter. The place has a calm vibe. It’s more of an outdoor thrift/pawn shop than a flea market. Lots of used cloth, phones, art supplies, and more are sold. They are not as timeless as they are just old.

28th octubre 2015 en 20:37This flea market has a wide assortment of interesting things for the collector of most anything. If you’re in the area on a Sunday, and want to spend a couple of interesting hours of browsing, I would recommend this flea market for sure.

25th julio 2016 en 17:01Chelsea market offers a wide range of vintage clothes; high end-cheap, and all that’s in between. My friend found a vintage rabbit fur in ice blue! She was thrilled; a rare finding when you love vintage fur and bright colors! You can also find stones, jewelry, paintings and old nips at this flea. I thought that a lot of the prices were a little too expensive, but hey! this is not the place to give up on! I also found two new favorite pieces to a very decent price! A new straw hat and a funky halter neck top!

5th agosto 2016 en 23:59If you’re trying to get your thrift fix without having to travel all the way to Brooklyn, I think this little flea market/parking lot will do that for you. While it’s not nearly as vendored-up and large as Brooklyn Flea, it’s still organized and manageable.
